OPSM IPL treatment brings lasting relief

Dry Eye is a common condition that can have a negative impact on your quality of life. The good news is OPSM’s new proven treatment targets the cause of the syndrome and around 86% of Dry Eye sufferers reported reduced symptoms*. To find out if you’re a candidate for this treatment talk to your optometrist for a comprehensive Dry Eye initial assessment.

Our innovative new IPL treatment

At OPSM, we’ve introduced a revolutionary new treatment for Dry Eye, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). IPL treatment is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that stimulates and unblocks the Meibomian Glands that produce oils that keep your eyes lubricated. This treatment can provide long- lasting relief for Dry Eye sufferers. Each session takes just 10 – 20 minutes, our optometrists will explain every step of the process and are here to answer your questions. The following table outlines the treatment plan and associated costs. The results last approximately 12 to 24 months+, so the cost equates to as little as $33 a month. Some Dry Eye sufferers spend this much on eye drops alone.

Do you have Dry Eye?

The main symptoms of Dry Eye are:

  • Irritation
  • Itchiness
  • Wateriness
  • Burning
  • Redness
  • Mucus

What causes Dry Eye?

The Meibomian Glands are located inside your eyelids, these glands produce tears that keep your eyes healthy. If they deteriorate, they may fail to create a tear film that is strong enough to protect your eyes from drying. Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is thought to cause the majority of Dry Eye disease.

Contributing factors

Things that may contribute to Dry Eye include:

  • Air pollution or weather conditions
  • Artificial lighting from things such as smart phones and computers
  • Air-conditioning and fans
  • Wearing contact lenses
  • Ageing
  • Hormonal changes

Eye drops vs IPL treatment

When comparing your options, it’s important to note that eye drops only provide relief from the symptoms of Dry Eye whereas IPL treatment may target the cause of your problems with continued treatment. In summary, eye drops provide short-term relief in comparison to IPL treatment which may provide long-term relief with continued treatment. Many patients experience results after the very first treatment and the effect is cumulative^.
