This standard eye test is bulk billable for eligible Medicare card holders and services. It involves eye tests carried out at various distances to help identify issues with day-to-day vision, and includes professional advice on eye health as well as the best way to address any problems using glasses, contacts or sunglasses.

Look a Little Deeper

Every OPSM eye test checks your vision. You’ll also undergo Digital Retinal Photography, a powerful tool that helps optometrists detect serious eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal changes that may be associated with diabetes.

Builds on our Essentials Package to include Visual Field Screening and an Ultra Wide Digital Retinal Scan that is 4x wider than a standard Digital Retinal Scan, revealing far more of the retina and blood vessels to assist with early detection of ocular and general health issues that relate to retinal changes. The Optos Daytona Ultra Wide Digital Retinal Scan is exclusive to OPSM and available in selected stores. Comparing scan results year after year helps optometrists detect subtle changes in your retina.

Benefit from all the tests, scans and screenings in our Essentials Plus Package, with the added reassurance of an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) exam that looks deep below the visible surface of the eye to reveal the hidden layers beneath, along with any issues that would be very hard to detect early without this ground-breaking technology. OCT exams are available in limited OPSM stores.

Contact Lenses are easier to use than ever before! Our experts are here to guide you through every step of the experience and to ensure that you are paired with a set of contact lenses that perfectly fits your vision and lifestyle needs. Whether you're a first time wearer or someone who has previously struggled with contact lenses, this package will provide you with the full support you need to become a confident contact lens wearer.

Diabetes is Australia’s fastest-growing chronic disease and many diabetics suffer from diabetic retinopathy, a key cause of blindness in working age people^. The good news is that retinopathy can be detected by retinal evaluation and imaging, which is included in the OPSM Diabetes Total Care Package. Please consult with your OPSM optometrist in store to see if this package is appropriate for you. It is based on the Essentials Premium Eye Test Package with additional condition-related testing, tailored to the specific needs of diabetics or those with a family history of diabetes.

Macular degeneration is an age-related condition that causes vision impairment (even blindness) in around 100,000 Australians^^. Changes in the tissue at the back of the eye can be detected by retinal evaluation and imaging, which is included in the OPSM Macular Degeneration Total Care Package. Please consult with your OPSM optometrist in store to see if this package is appropriate for you. It is based on the Essentials Premium Eye Test Package, with additional condition-related testing, and is tailored to the specific needs of those at greater risk of macular degeneration, including people over 50, smokers and those with a family history of macular degeneration.

Over 200,000 Australians have glaucoma, half of them remaining undiagnosed†. The condition gradually and painlessly deprives sufferers of their peripheral vision and progresses if left untreated. Once diagnosed, it can usually be treated with eye drops.

Glaucoma can be detected by a pressure check, visual field examination and optic nerve evaluation, all included in the OPSM Glaucoma Total Care Package. It is based on the Essentials Premium Eye Test Package, with additional condition-related testing, and is tailored to the specific needs of people over 50 with a family history of glaucoma.
